Healthy Iced Chai Tea Latte also known as … the Shrinker

Mmmm Chai Tea. When my sister in law Heidi moved in with us she introduced me to Chai Tea and all it’s amazingness! I don’t know about you guys but I am always craving a Starbucks or cream beverage of any kind in the afternoon. It’s not that I need the caffeine even, I just want something creamy to drink ( its an addiction really). Chai tea latte’s from coffee shops can be pretty calorie dense, so I was thrilled when I found this recipe on Trim Healthy Mama. They call theirs the Shrinker because it contains oolong tea which burns A LOT of calories, and a dash of cayenne pepper which jump starts your metabolism! To learn more about all the health benefits of this tea, or their food plan you can purchase their amazing food plan, Trim Healthy Mama. This recipe is healthy and virtually calorie free because it calls for almond milk and stevia. Almond Milk to bring the creaminess and stevia to make it sweet. I hate, I mean HATE most stevia brands, its always bitter and doesn’t taste like sugar at all however THM brand is amazing and not bitter at all.

Anyways I highly recommend buying their Stevia Brand as it is the best, and if they ship to me they most likely will ship to you!

You will need oolong tea, I use Bubbie’s Baklava from David’s tea, it is AMAZING. And a large mason jar filled with ice.

You will also need 1/2 cup of Almond milk, I used no sugar added vanilla Almond Breeze. You will also need stevia to taste ( you can always add it at the end till its as sweet as you like it. Less is more when using stevia and be careful how quickly you add more, take your time it will be worth it) 1/4 tsp cinnamon, pinch of sea salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper. I also forgot to take a picture of the all important vanilla, add 1-2 tsp.

First steep approximately 4-5 tsp of loose tea or 4 tea bags of oolong tea in 2/3 cup water. You are essentially making a concentrate so this may seem like a lot but it will give your chai lots of flavour. Steep your tea for 5-7 min or a wee bit longer if you are like me and want an intense chai flavour.

Poor in almond milk, vanilla, steeped tea, and spices into your mason jar.

Then pop a lid on and shake shake shake. This will make your chai creamy and add a bit of froth like so..

So good you guys! You will be burning calories and drinking a sweet Iced Chai Tea latte all at the same time!

Doesn’t get any better than that!!
