I used to make this scone recipe all the time and then some where along the way kind of forgot about it…. does that ever happen to anyone else? It makes the most amazing scones and I do love me a baked good! So after happening across it the other day I decided to make some and have a little tea party with the girls and our friends! It was such a success and the girls loved enjoying their own scones and tea ( birthday cake flavour by Davids Tea, SO GOOD). I thought I would share the recipe with you so you can enjoy your own little tea party!

Chocolate Chip Scones

3 1/4 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup cold butter cut into small cubes

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup buttermilk

1/4 tsp vanilla

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in your butter using either a pastry blender or rubbing between your fingers ( my preferred method) until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in chocolate chips. Add buttermilk and vanilla, stirring just until moistened. Do not over stir!

Turn your dough onto a floured surface and knead briefly 5-6 times to gather into a ball. Cut the ball in two and make two 8″ rounds but gently patting. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar. Using a knife cut each circle into 6 triangles and place on baking sheet. Bake for 15-17 min. until tops are golden.
