Hey everyone! I am so excited to share some more updates we are making to our new home, and have teamed up with Minted for the finishing details in our living room!
I have slowly been adding to our living room space, and am really working towards having this space be finished asap as it is our most used room in our house and sometimes you just need to have something finished ya know! I am always an advocate for having one room feel “decorated” as soon as possible when you move into a new house. I find this helps me feel more relaxed about the speed at which I finish decorating the rest of the home, and allows me and my family a space that feels complete, especially if the rest of the house is still in shambles ha.
So far in the living room we have switched out our two green velvet sofas for a large mid century style sectional. We are loving this change especially because it freed up more space in our living room and we were able to put three side chairs in as well. I love a sectional for lounging on with my family, but find that when guests come over they always gravitate towards a side chair, so I love that with adding in the sectional we were able to maximize more seating for guests as well!
I kept the same coffee table from our old house, and added in a new rug. We moved our T.V to the opposite end of our living room where our front door is. We have a big back entrance that we use instead of our front door, so even though we are still able to use the front door, we do not use it often and I really wanted to get as much use out of the size of this front room as possible. Sometimes you have to throw out the rules when decorating and just do what works best for you and/or your family.
All that was left was artwork! We decided to hang a picture ledge ( shown below) as I loved the idea of being able to change up my artwork without making more holes in the wall or having to measure out where to put everything like in a photo gallery ( math is hard, am I right!).
Our ledge is actually a floating shelf from Ikea, and its fairly deep so we are able to add loads of artwork and even some extras like our faux succulents and brass candlesticks. I love the mixture of different stains in the wooden picture frames and the soft metallic like in the brass candlesticks and Llama print frame. This little llama featured on the picture ledge seriously makes me happy every time I look at him, and if anything artwork should make you smile when you walk by it! I do choose most of our artwork to compliment our home decor, this satisfies my need for everything to match ha ha but of course this is just my own personal taste. With this in mind you will notice most of our art work is neutral in colour.
I love everything by Emily Jeffords and was so excited to have her amazing “Mornings Away” print with a beautiful custom frame by Minted to hang in our living room. Its such a dreamy and peaceful piece of art, and I love how it works in our space. Minted can custom frame any piece of art for you when you purchase through their site and their frames are so stunning and really take their prints to the next level! My favourite frames are the Whitewashed French Farmhouse, Whitewashed Herringbone and the Matte Brass.
Minted has amazing artwork, but they also carry home decor and party decor, as well as a little Mint section with perfectly curated pieces for a kids room or nursery. I picked up a few art prints from the little Mint section and will share photos of them once I have my daughters rooms finished!
Here are my favourite Minted pieces I chose to hang in our room, make sure you check out their site for more amazing finds!
Thank you to Minted for sponsoring this post. As always all ideas and opinions are my own!
